Mini orchids -new decor for ugly waterpipe

Once upon a time, i buy shoes and indulge in salmon-sashimi whenever i feel stressed out, depressed or generally moody...

nowadays, i just go nursery-shopping. LOL

here's 2 new pots of mini-orchids, hung on the waterpipe in the balcony. The decorated pipe turned out to be quite a pleasant decor style :)

Thought I would post a comment and add that you have two beautiful mini dendrobium orchids which are true air plants. Dendrobium orchids are my favorite orchids. The bottom one looks like its fragrant - is it?

Hi Hi,

I also hide the pipe at my balcony, but I use money plant instead. Now the pipe is nicely hidden with greens :)

hi rummi, once again i must say i love your balcony! it's soooooo nice! i wish mine was like yours. where do you buy your plants from? and the white shelf? i went to some nurseries but the shelfs were quite expensive.

meow superkitty,
its really a rather tiny balcony. mayb tats wat make it easier to 'decorate' :D

most of the plants i grew from seeds, except a small handful (incg orchids) are purchased from FarEastFlora Kovan & Worldfarm.

the rack i bought from one of the nursery at Kovan. cos $100-plus.... then DIY white paint to suit the color scheme im creatg on the balcony.

miaow miaow i see. i thought i saw the racks in kovan too :) but my hubby say v exp leh... haha he's stingy on the balcony.

where do you buy your seeds from? i tried the diy shop in compasspoint but very limited edible plant variety.

meow superkitty,
if i get to choose again, i'll buy the hanging racks instead of tis wooden rack :p

most of the seeds are from New zealand nurseries, the rest from Swallowtail (canada) and Knownyou (Taiwan supplier in spore).

thanks!

meow sorry another question - how did you hang the orchids on the pipe? i got a mini orchid and want to hang it on my window grille but dunno how :P

btw what are hanging racks? haha sorry i'm clueless about garden equipment, this is the first time i've had a balcony.

Got part time job for you. Interested?
Want to engage ur pair of green hands to groom my big big corridor..... all plants die so far due to strong direct sunshine in the afternoon.... he he he.

Hi Jo,
THAT corridor of yours with THAT amount of sunshine is really a waste not to grow a garden la :D

Tell me first, what do u have in mind?

Something practical will be an edible-garden of vegetables, fruits-vegs and herbs... they are low maintenance too ;)

i really have no experience with flowers, and thus cant comment at all. Orchid may be a little shy of that very intense-sunshine, unless u wanna consider investing in some form of shading-structures...

how, throw some ideas first how u imagine your garden to be la;)
